Monday, April 12, 2021 (Pittsburgh) – Today Riverstone Books and Classic Lines announce that Classic Lines is joining the Riverstone family. Barbara Jeremiah, owner of Riverstone Books, and Dan Iddings, owner of Classic Lines, have agreed to the purchase of Classic Lines by Riverstone. The transaction is expected to close in mid-May.
“We are delighted that when Dan decided to retire, he concluded Riverstone was the best home for his customers and staff. Squirrel Hill is a vibrant neighborhood and has supported Dan since he started Classic Lines and we’re excited to join the community,” said Barbara Jeremiah. “We look forward to continuing his legacy of passionate bookselling while adding the services that we established at Riverstone and are proud of – online ordering, a large children’s section, curbside and home delivery, our Great Readers Loyalty Program, Riverstone Express subscriptions, personal shopper support, online and hopefully in-person events later this year, and superlative customer service.
Dan Iddings remarked, “I am proud of the contribution Classic Lines has made to independent bookselling in Pittsburgh and to the neighborhood of Squirrel Hill. We’ve had a great time establishing and growing our business but it’s time for me to retire, again. We are grateful for the support of our customers and neighbors, particularly in the time since COVID forced us to close our doors. It has been a privilege to serve Squirrel Hill and the entire East End community and I look forward to Riverstone taking our place to support readers of all ages.”
Riverstone expects to take over the operations on Forbes Avenue May 17. Later this summer, the store will temporarily close and re-open after a refurbishment. Shoppers will find Riverstone’s new location at 5825 Forbes Avenue in the heart of Squirrel Hill, or online at www.riverstonebookstore.com.
