Then we asked rising and established female writers to read these pieces and respond with their own work. A collaborative conversation emerged from these exchanges—spanning various generations, genres, forms, identities, and ideas—beginning from within girlhood and launching into a post-stratospheric space of exciting uncertainty.
In this first set of poems and essays, adolescent and adult writers consider femininity, sexuality, aspirations, passions, trials, pain, histories and futures, as well as their responsibilities as local and global citizens.
