“We are pleased to announce that AB&R will be opening our 3rd location this month, at 116 Meyran Avenue in the heart of Oakland, mere blocks from Pitt, Carnegie Melon, & Carlow, and just a block from UPMC. We’re going to be half a block up from Razzy Fresh (frozen yogurt), a half block down from Nellie’s Sandwiches, right next door to Peace, Love, & Little Donuts, across from Katie’s Kandy, Hocus Pocus, and Underground Printing, and directly above us are the offices of NoWait.
We plan to open within the next two weeks with a carefully chosen selection of around 3000 amazing books and around 1000 amazing records. This location is smaller than our other two, so our curating process here will be even more refined. We will of course be constantly buying books and records at this location as well, including textbooks, and we will continue to hire the most broadly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and friendly staff that we can.
We’ve also applied for a restaurant license, and within the coming months plan to launch a vegan coffee-shop in the same space. We’ll have high-end locally-roasted gourmet organic fair-trade coffee, a variety of vegan milks, fresh organic raw fruit and vegetable smoothies and juices, and hand-made vegan pastries. Over time, we’ll be looking at adding vegan sandwiches, salads, soups, and hot entrées. Our seating will be limited, maxing at about 8 seats, but everything will be available to go. Once we have the coffee and food, we’ll likely be open early in the morning, and close late in the evening..
