What brought you to Littsburgh?
I’ve worked in book publishing for the last decade. As a Pittsburgh native and the owner of a local literary press, I am deeply passionate about supporting and promoting the Pittsburgh literary scene. Working at Littsburgh allows me to engage with literary Pittsburgh in its entirety, from booksellers, readers, and libraries to local writers and organizations.
What’s your favorite thing about Pittsburgh?
Pittsburgh is blessed with an incredible network of literary organizations that put on intensely creative workshops, readings, and collaborative events. This certainly exists in other cities, but it takes a really fluid form here because Pittsburgh is a smaller city with incredible assets and so much enthusiasm toward collaboration. The result is this really vibrant and diverse scene that tries to involve and represent all Pittsburgh readers, writers, organizers, etc.
You’re taking on the role of content strategist at Littsburgh. What does that mean?
I’ll be creating and producing content for Littsburgh’s social media platforms. My goal is to create an online community for Littsburgh and spark dialogue about literary Pittsburgh.
What kind of content will you be producing?
My focus will be Pittsburgh places, people, and books. I am so excited to start sharing my series of interviews with literary figures in Pittsburgh. It’ll be like Humans of New York but about Pittsburgh booksellers, libraries, writers, agents, and organizers, the folks that make Pittsburgh a literary city. I will also be spotlighting Pittsburgh’s literary landmarks and starting an online discussion about books with a Pittsburgh connection.
Do you have a favorite place to read or write in Pittsburgh?
My husband and I lived in the North Side when we were first dating. I spent a lot of time editing and caffeinating at Commonplace Coffee. Whenever I’m in that part of town, I try to make time for a cinnamon cappuccino and the short walk to City of Asylum’s reading garden.
