The first five years of a child’s development create a crucial foundation for the rest of their physical and mental growth, and a huge part of building that solid foundation is ensuring that they are the healthiest they can be.
But you’re busy. Running to the doctor for every sniffle, scrape, and sneeze isn’t feasible!
That’s why Dr. Daniela and Dr. Shellie created The Prescription for a Happy, Healthy Child: 113 Questions Answered by a Top Pediatrician.
Dr. Daniela, the M.D. of the team, is a medical expert who has been helping her patients be happy and healthy for 23 years. And no question is a silly question!
Dr. Shellie, Ed.D., has keynoted at Harvard University and the University of Oxford and brings her decades of book writing experience to the table, turning all the questions into learning tools for parents. As a mom of two, she’s been in the hot seat in the doctor’s office with many of the questions that you’ll find between these pages.
No, you don’t have to call the doctor’s emergency line for every question that arises. The Prescription for a Happy, Healthy Child has all the basic answers from a trusted source for keeping your child happy and healthy from infant to school-age.”

What inspired you to write The Prescription for a Happy and Healthy Child?
During an EmpowerU Master Class coaching session, Dr. Daniela told Dr. Shellie that she had always wanted to write a book to help parents. Dr. Shellie immediately replied, “We will do it, together!” In that moment, the spark of the idea for The Prescription for a Happy and Healthy Child was ignited, and the resulting book would light the way for parents around the world to care for their children.
How does your book help parents have happy and healthy children? Why did you pick that as the theme for the book?
It is a guidebook that helps them make informed decisions based on first-hand knowledge from a pediatrician with 20 years of experience. As parents, we all strive to have happy and healthy children!
Who is this book ideal for?
New parents from pregnancy to the birth of their child and on until the child is 5 years old.
Would you recommend that parents read this all at once or use it as a reference book as needed?
Both. They should get familiar with the information by reading it as a whole. Then they can read it as a reference whenever they have challenges and questions.
As parents yourselves, what was the biggest challenge you experienced with your children’s health?
Dr. Daniela shares in the book the issues she had breastfeeding both children. Dr. Shellie shares stories of her son being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
Is there any one question that you think is the most important in this book?
They are of equal importance. The most important question will be individualized according to the scenario that the parent is experiencing. For example, if the child is burned, they will need to take immediate action on the situation based on the answers we share. If Dr. Daniela had to choose one topic to focus on starting from pregnancy on, it is the vital build up a healthy biome through healthy dietary choices.
Why is it important for parents to have this book on the top 113 questions that are asked in Dr. Daniela’s thriving pediatric practice in New York City?
These are the topics and questions that are top-of-mind for new parents, and they deserve the correct answers right away from a proven professional, a source that they trust. Plus, emergencies can happen at any time during travel or co-parenting, with grandparents or on playdates.
