Critically acclaimed local author Siobhan Vivian’s book launch for The Last Girl and Boy in the World is on April 26th — in celebration, we asked her to take the Littsburgh Questionnaire!
Also, Simon and Schuster very kindly allowed us share an excerpt from The Last Girl and Boy in the World — a “transcendent love story, as profoundly moving as it is fun. This is Siobhan Vivian’s finest hour” – Stephen Chbosky, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Perks of Being a Wallflower) — so you can read it before you go!
What’s your favorite thing about Pittsburgh?
The pride for our city. I’ve never lived in such a prideful place. Nobody loves Pittsburgh like a Pittsburgher loves Pittsburgh!
What books are on your nightstand?
Right now, I’ve got The Haters by Pittsburgher Jesse Andrews. Also Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert.
Is there a book you’d like to see made into a film?
Yes. I would love to see Rules of Civility by Amor Towles made. And I would go with alllllll my lady friends.
If you were to write a book set in Pittsburgh, what would it be about?
Well, I’ve actually gotten pretty close with my new book, The Last Boy and Girl in the World. It’s based on the demolition of Livermore, PA.
Who would you most want to share a plate of pierogis with?
Mr. Rogers, obvi.
