Happy Holidays to all yinz, and welcome to the 12 Days of Indies! My name is Joy Givens, and I’m here to make your December merry and bright by highlighting one of Pittsburgh’s fabulous independent bookstores each day, December 1-12. Keep reading to learn all about today’s featured bookstore, and check back daily for new store profiles, fun tidbits, ordering information, and more!
Day 4
The fourth day of indies takes us to a truly charming used bookstore tucked away in the heart of Dormont: Beyond Bedtime Books! Right on picturesque Potomac Avenue, convenient to both West Liberty and the “T” light rail station, this quaint shop has the perfect atmosphere for a used bookstore; between the original pressed tin ceiling and the warm hardwood floors, the air feels enchanted from the moment you slip inside.
To say Beyond Bedtime is fully stocked is an understatement. As the shop’s Instagram feed shows, this space is positively brimming with used, new, rare, and antique books of all genres! However, this store has a place for everything, and the helpful staff is always willing to guide you through your latest treasure hunt. The dedicated children’s room at the back of the store means that even the littlest readers can find plenty of new books to enjoy.
If you are hesitant to visit Beyond Bedtime Books in person, either because of the pandemic or because of concerns related to accessibility (please note that the front door is one step up from the sidewalk), then you can email the shop with any book requests. The shop even offers free local delivery!
If you’re craving that bookish treasure hunt feeling in a lovingly maintained vintage space, then pop into Beyond Bedtime Books for the bibliophile visit of your dreams.
